I got an email today with some exciting news about Stillbreather, you probably got the email too but tough crap. If you didn't get the email then you're the one missing out and you should go to their website and sign up for their mailing list. The most exciting piece of information in today's email is that the band was recently featured on a local Boston nightlife show called Boston Nocturnal. Click on the link and watch the video, their piece is a few minutes in but it's worth watching and pretty cool if you ask me. They've also got some shows coming up soon, if you need a ride call Mike Pacheco, he loves Stillbreather and is there numero uno fan. The first show is in Boston this Saturday at The Middle East. Stillbreather goes on at Midnight, which actually means that Mike won't be going to the show as he has little Rico at home. Quick tangent...Rico is Mike's son Andrew but before the baby was born Mike made the crucial mistake of joking that they were going to name the baby Rico...as in Rico Pacheco. Needless to say, nobody is yet calling Andrew by his real name, well at least I'm not. Ok, second show is in NYC at Don Hill's on Friday October 27 and they go on at 11pm. Last but not least the Stillbreather EP can now be downloaded off of iTunes. So if you haven't purchased it yet at a show, or listened to it ad nauseum at Stillbreather.com and you're an iPod type of person check out iTunes and make the purchase.
Kara and Anthony's Wedding As you know we were home again, for another wedding and again we've got some pictures. I'm not going to say much more than that because we've been home for several weddings, they have all been great, it is always great when we get to see everyone, so let's not rehash everything. Aside from Kara's wedding we've been home many times in the last couple of months for Nate's Wedding, my bachelor party, Tracy's shower, Hampton Beach and many other trips. Although I will say that the prime rib at Kara's wedding was delicious.Stillbreather.com I'm happy to report that Stillbreather.com is finally live, up and running. I'm by no means a master web developer, it's something that I've taught myself a little bit about over the last several years but I think the site came out pretty well. After catching up with Jay this past weekend it sounds like the band is doing well. You can purchase their EP or a Stillbreather tee shirt through the site if you so choose.WTGW Readers I learned over the weekend that there are a handful of avid, dedicated WTGW readers that actually get pissed when I don't keep the site up to date and fresh. For all four of you, I'll be using this as motivation on those days when I might not have much to say.Andrew Michael Pacheco We actually got to meet Drew Pacheco (see previous post) and he's great. He slept mostly but congrats again to Mike and Heather.Trifecta I missed the trifecta this weekend by one. We hit Joe's (Ken's) hard on Saturday afternoon for a chicken parm which resulted in chicken parm burps for the remainder of the day. We scarfed down some Dag's on Sunday and we just didn't have time to or the stomach to hit up Bob's in Medford on Monday after a scrumptous, free hot breakfest at the Residence Inn Westford.
It is with great pleasure that I welcome the first guest writer appearance on WTGW. Michael Pacheco went to the Stillbreather show last week and he wanted to share he experience with everyone else and I thought that was a great idea. This may be Mike's first and last guest appearance as he and Heather are expecting a mini-Pacheco any minute now but he has set the bar high for any future WTGW guests. Thanks Mike.
Monday night Doug and I went to the Stillbreather show at the Middle East Club in Cambridge. After a brief detour through Somerville and Cambridge we arrived a bit late but in time to hear most of the set. They started the night with "Dawn" and "Move" (which were the two songs we missed). After a short time out to get Tina's jacket off(the zipper was stuck) they played "Hands" and Fitzy's favorite song "Beginnings" The two songs they closed with were the best of the night. The second to last song was "Yellow to Red" It is their newest song and there best. Yellow is so hot they should rename it to Hansel. The guitar and Bass work in the song are nasty along with the drumming of the band's true star Jay Pacor. They ended with "Eyes are Talking" which after buying the CD and listening to it has become one of my favorite songs. Stillbreather was a lot better than I thought it was going to be, I was expecting cheesy rifts and the typically lame lyrics you hear from other smaller bands. I was very impressed with their sound and their lyrics. To say that they are a good indie rock band or garage band is selling them short, they are a very good rock band. For those of you around the Boston area come out to their next show and support them. I am not really into branching out musically and typically stick with the mainstream stuff, but trust me when I tell you that Stillbreather is legit. If you don't believe me buy their CD for $6 if you hate it then don't go to the show and you will end up saving $2. The next show is September 1st at T.T. the Bears place at 9:45pm, depending on when the newest Pacheco arrives I will be there. I will leave you in my opinion the top Stillbreather tunes: 1. Yellow to Red 2. Above your Lungs 3. Eyes are Talking 4. Furiosa 5. Beginnings
Couple of quick announcements before I officially kick off the weekend with a Miller Lite.Stillbreather is playing the Middle East upstairs on Monday August 14th at 9pm . This is their second appearance at the Middle East and their only show in August. I encourage you to get out and see them.Additionally the Stillbreather EP is now available to purchase online through their MySpace page. CDs will also be available at the show for 6$ and T-Shirts too. I have my copy of the EP and I must say I'm enjoying it, Beginnings is my favorite so far.And as I've mentioned 500 times by now be on the look out for the launch of the Stillbreather official site soon.
I haven't really been busy lately, just not much going on to talk about. Tracy was home last weekend and I had the town to myself. This resulted in laundry, fantasy football research (yes, I'm that big of a geek) and plenty of Tiger Woods 2005, not a lot of action.Tracy will be out of town this weekend as well, down in South Beach for her bachelorette party. I think I might decide to get a little crazy this time around. I'm thinking a little car wash, a little oil change and hopefully putting the finishing touches on Stillbreather.com, you know some real crazy shit.Tracy and I are going to see Dashboard Confessional tomorrow night. I'm a big fan of Chris Carrabba and his band but I'm a bit worried that Tracy and I are going to the the only people in the crowd that aren't broken hearted teennagers with acne and a MySpace page. Actually I might have a MySpace page, but if I do I don't look at it and don't feel like trying to figure it out right now. I'll let you all know how the show goes.
Tracy and I are actually going to be home this weekend but we are heading back to DC before we'll have a chance to check out Stillbreather, but that doesn't mean that you have to miss out too.The show is at TT The Bear's Place Sunday @ 9. It is their only show in Boston this month so if you miss it, you have to wait until August. Stillbreather has a much anticipated EP coming up soon but if you can't wait for the EP go to http://myspace.com/stillbreather and check out 2 songs from their upcoming CD release.Let me know what you think.
If you live in Boston and are not going to this show, then you're a jerk. You're a jerk because if I was in Boston I would be there, front and center. But because we are in DC, we can't be there, so do me a favor and go out and see Still Breather next week. Here are the dirty details: - Next week, Friday 6/23, at All Asia on Mass Ave in Cambridge. - 5$ at the door and they take the stage at 12:15. - They would love to see you there.Additionally, there is a Still Breather 5 Song EP which is nearly finished. I'll be sure to let you all know when it is ready for your listening pleasure.
There is a StillBreather show tomorrow night at 11:30PM at the Middle East. They are playing upstairs with Devola. You should check them out...yeah you.At the very least click over to their website and listen to some of their music...go ahead...click on the link above...turn up your speaker volume...start rockin' out. When the heck is StillBreather going to make it down to the Mid-Atlantic? Jay, throw me a frickin bone will ya. I saw their first show ever and then nothing, that was probably 11 moths ago and I'm having withdrawals. In other news I have to go to New York tomorrow for day trip to help out some hotels and not even the "cool" part of New York, if there is such a thing. I have to go to New Rochelle which is who knows where. In all seriousness I don't hate New York, it's just that I could never live there. I love visiting but that is about it.
Fellow Rock Appreciators,Tomorrow night Still Breather will be rocking Bill's Bar @ 9PM.It will be their last show before we go in the studio. Be there.7$ for 21+ 10$ for 18+Still BreatherBill's Bar
In Dallas tonight for a presentation and some other stuff tomorrow. Just had dinner and a few beers at the lobby bar. Lobby Bar + Monday Night = Not a Happenin' Place.I'll be back home tomorrow night and will hopefully have something important to talk about. Been working on something big for Still Breather, we'll hopefully get to unveil it in a couple of weeks, until that time keep your ear to the grindstone.I haven't mentioned in any detail that I'm playing lacrosse again. We had two games two weekends ago and another game yesterday. We are 1-2 and not very good at lacrosse but the guys on the team are cool and they like to drink after the games which that is half the fun when you are too fat and slow to play at a high level anymore. I got hit in the ass with a shot yesterday and have a sweet bruise that is making it hard to sit...maybe I'll post pictures later on...any takers?
